Extension of Double Elimination & POV Streaming

Every Game Counts #1: Strike the Balance

Hey everyone,

1) the administration would like to thank all players who have signed up for this tournament so far & the streamers who have shown interest in presenting EGC #1: Strike the Balance to their viewers. We're glad to say that the level of the signed-up players has surpassed our expectations and we therefore decided to adapt Knockout Stage in order to allow for a peer-based seeding & double elimination format not only from Round-of-8, but from Round-of-16 already. This change to the tournament format will extend it by one week, giving players in the range of "top 9 to top 16" a bigger chance of showing off their skills now that so many top experts have signed up.

 Knockout Stage aka Double Elimination Stage will start from Ro16 instead of Ro8

2) Both regular players and partnered Twitch streamers have inquired about streaming their own point of view (POV) to Twitch while competing in this tournament. With the lingering dispute within the community, we have decided to settle for a compromise and allow POV streaming until the end of Knockout Stage. Starting with Final Stage (Round Robin with the top 6 players) in which money prizes are at stake, POV streaming won't be allowed anymore in order to secure the integrity of this tournament. In WSVG 2015 for instance, POV streaming was prohibited entirely, so we, the administration team, believe this decision is an acceptable compromise.

 POV streams are allowed until the end of Knockout Stage. Starting with Final Stage, they won’t be allowed anymore.

3) Last Reminder: Again, thank you to everyone who signed up to this tournament already. For anyone who hasn't decided to signup yet, or are just hearing about this tournament for the first time, the signup topic will be closed on Saturday 28th, 23:59 GMT. EGC #1: Strike the Balance is an open event and there is a high chance for lower rated players to be matched with a 2k+ player, especially now that we have exceeded the 64 players mark.

Banning pov streams is quite bland.

A few, like RTSL, just force a higher delay than usual.

@Fall & robo: Especially with maps like Arena avaiable in the map pack, having money at stake & allowing for pov streams would only call for trouble. There is precedence in e.g. WSVG 2015, in which pov streams were forbidden completely (1. Game Rules - 5.), see above.

Not sure what you mean in your post, but RTSL doesn't ban PoV streams or force any special conditions, players just usually don't want to do it for their own reasons, or they want a higher delay themselves.

When I played in RTSL with LeO, I was asked to set at least a 3:00 delay on my stream. But it's not super relevant anyway.

I'm referring to this tournament, not previous ones.

PoV Streams do not confer an in-game advantage to the streamer. They offer variety for viewers. Banning them is just boring.

By a player I assume? Anyone can request anything, it's still a gentlemanly agreement territory :)

No, it's in the rules :D

4.Live streaming of a League match must include a minimum of 2-minute delay between the actual game progression and the live streaming picture. Streaming without delay is possible only after explicit approval of both clans documented by a screenshot or agreed upon beforehand in the League scheduling forums.
