That question was just a silly way to mock how everyone seems to have their own narrow view on how AoC is an enjoyable game. While there are in fact many many ways to enjoy the game, on many many different levels.

You're one of very few people who would support that.

smurfing only has a chance to benefit the top players which are the tiny minority. how games do people need to ruin before they realize that?

when people are busy ruining someone else's game, they remove people from the pool of available players which makes it exponentially harder for everyone else to find matches

all it takes is 1 smurf to ruin a game for 7 players. and half of those players are definitely going to be less likely to play aoc when this keeps happening over and over again.

after you have played thousands of hours (most people have), this game is only fun when you have a chance at winning

also it skews the rates so badly and makes an even greater incentive for people to smurf and make the problem worse. you have this enormous skill gap between 16xx and 18xx and then comparatively little skill difference between 18xx and 2.5k because the ratings are skewed more and more by people playing at lower than their rate

end result:
lots of frustrated noobs because better players come in ruining their games
lots of bored smurfers who keep playing easy games, but don't really get the satisfaction of a good match
lost of bored good players who decided not to smurf, because everyone else is smurfing and unavailable for games or not willing to risk playing (and hurting their precious rate) because the rates are all skewed

Here is the alive proof, that 18++ dont have to be smart.

High-Rated players are boring... Of course with exeptions... But the maority its just like they dont want anything but points, so the game is like : Gl hf, gg gb
I dislike that 100% I play when skype or a friend playing and I have fun, when I want to get better I call a high-rated that want to talk skype or just have fun some while he teachs me. You are so close dude, open your mind a little, not everyone wants to be 2.5k, at least not everyone would play 25 boring games a day to be it.

Smurfing doesn't "ruin" games. I think the only thing you can say against smurfing is that some high rated players use it to inflate their rate. Only a few people actually do that. Many players 16+, 17+, 18+, etc play on multiple accounts with no intent to help inflate their friends rating. And IMO "set teams" contributes just as much to this problem as "smurfing" does. Playing set teams vs random players who are weaker than you is quite lame imo.

Do good players really care about ruining games for noobs? I doubt it. It pains me to play vs. low rated players, it's not fun for me. Low rated players also seem pretty good at kicking smurfs and questionable players from their game.

If smurfers were bored they wouldn't do it. I can assure you it's not boring.

Many high players simply aren't very active making it hard to find games. Many others seem to only want to play with stacked teams or 1 game setting. Perhaps if they changed things up maybe they could find a game faster. They can make a smurf account to play different settings, vs stacked teams, etc and they will find some fun games. Or maybe they just want to play anonymously, without pressure, try new strats, etc. If they want to they will find a way to do it or find something else to do instead. Banning multiple accounts won't fix anything.

if you are playing on an account that is a different from your skill you are ruining everyone's expectation of a fair game and throw off the entire rating system. this has a ripple effect, which ends up killing the entire game. 2k players who play on 17xx names don't suddenly turn off the skill and play like 17xx. the whole "trying new strats" argument is total BS. 99.9% of the games are just regular play

when you steal points from lower rates, their rating gets deflated and then they end up ruining games against equally rated players who happened not to lose as many points to smurfs.

even if it's not fun, people would rather smurf a rook game than wait in a lobby and risk actually playing an equally skilled opponent and losing some rating. when people choose to play games they don't belong in instead of waiting, it ruins the entire system

1x1 arabia is definitely not the same thing over and over again. You will always have to react to how opponent plays, and is a game where walling is least involved of all maps, and all units in all ages can get used.. From militia to knight to uu to trebuchet.

There are many different ways to play AoC and lots of players are 2k on 1 game style but only 16xx on another. The lobby ratings are not very accurate and it has nothing to do with players having multiple accounts. Rather multiple accounts is a nice solution, I personally have about 5 names that I can play 1v1 for different maps.

dunno how you could make rate system thats 100% accurate...
but you can judge inaccuracy of ratings, players who are around their "real" rate usually have wins = losses or close.
i found 17xx players are exact same skill level as many 16xx... really making good judgment on who your playing can boost rate up to 100 point alone haha

Then you can find 1600 players who are willing to play anyone, and are really skilled a bit higher.
So I guess the problem is users of voobly dont really all have the same values, some want any games, some want to win, and some want points :D

biz you sound like a frustrated player..
i have played vs you in the past and yeah you are right me joining to ur 1650 to 1750 games, you say players like me remove the fun cause we just want easy games or points?
you are wrong ppl who are noobs, droppers, syncers, lagger, ertugs remove the fun, smurfs just make it complicated trouble is when you have to fight a full team of smurfs xd (like me loosing to riut smurfing with his friends lol).

anyway i justify smurfs if they dont play daily cause you can ask a player to play at his best when he has been away for some time or simply you just want to play to kill stress.
