Correct course of action:
- Admit you made a mistake and accept the help offered in fixing it if you don't know how yourself.

Chosen course of action:
- Deny responsibility, blame someone else for the vulnerability, passive-aggressive behavior, attack the credibility of the person who reported it and of others who "sided" with them in the thread.

This topic just once again demonstrates the arrogance of ZeroEmpires (and also his friends).

I'm friends with nobody in this thread but c'mon, how can the guy who was hacked have any responsability?

What mia did was not a simple report of a vulnerability, he/she exposed the vulnerability in a way that anyone with bad intentions will be aware to exploit it himself. If only he/she PM'd ZeroEmpires about it in private... But then, there would be no recognition. Also, what guaranties that the "instructions to fix the vulnerability" will not open a bigger one?

If you find a vulnerability at your government website (just an exaggerated example, like you guys seem to love), do you think posting it publicly is the right course of action? Do you expect a tap in the back after doing it? LOL Please, grow some brains...

You're just bringing your divergences from other questions into a completely different subject. This huge discussion and all the insults across every topic harm the community much more than any patch/expansion would...

People should take responsibility for their own security. It's not rocket science, it's relatively common knowledge, and if people continue to ignore it and NOT take responsibility then websites getting hacked will continue to be a problem, people getting their credit cards stolen, etc. Who will be responsible if not the owner???

Yes full disclosure is a fun option! Many people don't report the vulnerabilities they find at all unless there is cash offered....

Not all of us have technical capabilities to prevent these kind of vulnerabilities, even the ones who think they do often are proven wrong. (Playstation as a big recent example)

Most CMS do not require their users to have technical knowledge. You should hack them all just for the sake of it and when you are in the court room say that they should have assured their security. That should prove you're right.

Well in my personal opinion, there should be nothing criminal about sending data to a computer over the network. The computer chooses to accept, parse, and use the data however it wants. There is nothing forced upon it. There should be nothing criminal about it.

The court rooms might not agree, but most people doing this sort of thing would use precautions to avoid getting caught anyway.
