Champion is not trash unit, neither is SO, Woad, axeman, Samurai,ETK,Berserk. Celt, Frank, Teton are complete shit without gold. So is Viking and Jap.
Combo hussar/halb is strongest I believe, but only Spain has both FU units. Second best is hussar/skirm, which again only very few posses. Hun only lack armor up. Plus they have halb up and fast stables.

But beside this, how often do you think a frank/teut will have fully upgraded UU in a 1v1 vs a huns player? Same goes with champs for aztec and goths, they will not have upgraded these units because they didnt need them earlier and it will be too expensive to do it in when the gold is gone. Also gothic champs only have 3 pierce armor, so a skirm does 4 damage per throw.

I can give you that a japanese (maybe not since he will go halb + arbs) or celt will probably have fully upgraded UU, so they might cause trouble. But the Hun should be able to raid their economies with their superior hussars and they wont be able to sell wood/food.


Hmmm, guess you're right, but anyway Huns should win most of those civs before Impe Age.

In late game scenario where Malay have standard economy. Goths get infantry 35% cheap for free, Perfusion costs 400w 600g vs Forced Levy 1000f 400g. Goth infantry spam will easily take over Malay before it reaches a trash fight.


Yes, but the Goths have no economic bonuses (not counting villager hunting damage), whereas the age up bonus is not just a military bonus, it's an economic bonus. They gain 2.6 villagers in the feudal age transition, 3.2 in castle age and 3.8 in the imperial age. Goths don't get 35% cheaper infantry "for free", the price they pay is having no economic bonuses whatsoever. The Goths have to fight just to get to the stage of the game where they can spam infantry, whereas the Malay have a bonus that makes it very likely that they will reach the late game in good shape.

How many two-handed swordsmen did you spam in that game against Tatoh? Given that thousands of units died in that game, it probably was more than 800.
