Good News - A Potential Breakthrough
Re: Good News - A Potential Breakthrough
It smells like the beginning of a cult. We can even name the council as "Elders" .. .
Seriously though, zeroempire, you did a great job.
I think the original mail written by that developer could have been attached with your mail.
He had talked about new revenue and ad streams to be included as part of the revival.
It made more business sense.
Gud luck.

Guys,
I was not around during zone time frame, but was there a lot of hacking/security related issues? I read somewhere in msw that the maintenance cost of zone was very very high for such reasons and too much was at stake in terms of reputation.. any details known by anyone? why did zone close down?

msn zone never closed down. it still works, they just stopped supporting aoe2 on zone(in June 2006) since their new game aoe3 (released Oct 2005) was released and they wanted to FORCE people's attention from an older game to their shiny new one, which otherwise wasn't happening owing to bad gameplay mechanics of aoe3

Hmmmm all I can think is now they will want more money from the game for their support, plz no, I've spent my $ on the game - if u can get it open source for people who are developing mods it would be awesome though.
Thx for ur hard work trying.

Great post. I wonder if it would have been a good thing to add the amount of money being sponsored into tournaments to show that there's still good money in this to attract players aswell.04 May 2012, 16:34 GMT » TheViper wrote:

Which is why I think it was a bead idea for Zero to mention paying for the source code. Now when they read that, their first intentions will not be focused on helping out an everlasting game, but $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Microsoft is a business, and they don't have the time for handouts.
This sounds very pessimistic, but I believe its true. Good luck, I really hope this works, although your shot is a million-to-one. Thanks for your efforts Zero.

Oh please. That's chump change. M$ doesn't care about that -- they make billions anyways.
