why so mean dreams?? i only gave my point of view. last week i was playing and the guy dropped and i lost points, i made the post at the forum, and i didnt have my points back 11, its ok with it, im not gonna die for 15 points.

and ur a mod, if i talk to a mod, like u talked to me, i get a ban!

BTW i really like the time u spend making this community better!

Would you mind posting the topic? Because it seems to me, that you have asked points for wrong reasons and there is a really simple reason why you didn't get your points. Because saying that experts get their points back for something that normal user wont is such super absurd claim. That would have never happened in my time. Post the complaint and I take my words back if there's some kind of mistake or power abuse.

I also get irritated about people who complain about Voobly moderators being power hungry and abusing their powers. I have seen only few cases and most of them happened at AoC:CS departement. All of them are there to help the community. Doing that voluntary work for other users so that they have a place to play. What have you done to help the community besides barking and insulting people who are actually putting their own free time and effort to help the community.

You guys don't appreciate what you have been given for free. Voobly sucks, Gameranger sucks, NAT sucks, moderators suck, tournament sucks and staff sucks. You just think that you have all the rights but no responsibilities. And it's so wrong, that many people think that someone is doing bad job, but still they aren't willing to do that job them self . Not to mention that they think it's some kind of no-life or worse person doing that task. It's a normal person who probably doesn't have more free time than you have but he's still willing to help and use his free time to help. Take for example deathcubek who has been organizing RTS-league for ages. He must have spent so much time organizing it that it would count for a real job.

None of you who think or say that you could the same, know what, you can't, because you haven't. No need to add "u mad?" because I am, kind of. Zoomorph for example is just trolling, but I expect more from some people.

Dreams I am sure you treating every mod at par with your standards.. as much as I appreciate your efforts and time to do things for the community I do think I have a right to express what I feel.. for voobly mod's there has been several occasions where mods have gone on power trips to do things.. ya true this has been in the CS world and thats exactly why I left voobly CS 1 yr ago. Honestly I do not complain about most things without reasons, i have run online gaming leagues(yahoo pool) for yrs and on my dime(dime>time) for others.so i very well understand what commitment means.. My POV is simple: If you are doing something for free and in your own time does not mean you are doing a great job at it.. you can scream about it from the top of a roof but can't change people's opinion.

Well I'm sorry DreamS but the truth is most volunteer moderators on Voobly and around the internet are not doing it for nothing. They are volunteering in exchange for some powers or perks that they will receive which normal users do not have access to. They are volunteering so they have red names in the lobby, can make rooms /99, can make themselves host, can punish people that piss them off, etc. They are volunteering so that people will know their names, will fear them throughout the lands, or revere them in some twisted way. These people are already well rooted in the community and would be around with or without moderator powers. They figure they'd might as well put in a minimum effort for the payoffs they will receive if they can be conniving enough to get into a position of power.

I've been moderator on forums and admin on a few websites before and of course I would probably act high and mighty about it when defending my position too, but truthfully the only reason I cared was to use the powers for my own subtle influence when I wanted something. I'm not an idiot, lol. I'm a lot smarter than your average moderator actually. The only way I'd ever consider proper, impartial moderating, is if someone paid me to do it.

No person ever volunteers for something without some sort of payoff. In the real world, most people volunteer because they have to for applications / resumes, are forced by law, or because they have some kind of sad morality which makes them feel good when they waste their life volunteering for stupid shit. On the internet forums, most of the volunteering has always been by young power hungry kids. Yes there are always a few older people who seem to have nothing better to do than dedicate years of their lives to moderating someone else's website without any personal gain, but those people are in the minority in places like this. It's also quite likely that some people start off with good intentions but are quickly corrupted.

In my limited interaction with the Voobly moderators (which includes reading the moderator forum a few times), it was my opinion that most of them were rather immature and came across as power hungry. One thing I found quite funny was the process of applying to become a moderator on Voobly yourself. It's basically a popularity contest as your entry is reviewed by the current moderators and subject to jokes and ridicule, insults, and first impressions about your personal character in a private forum where you cannot read what they are saying or defend your honor.

Of the admins, the only one I've ever spoken with is Pieter who quickly revealed himself as an ignoramus in our brief conversation. I had reported a large security hole on Voobly and rather than simply saying "thanks" and asking one of the more competent admins to fix it, he told me that it was not a problem and then went on trying to argue that Voobly passwords are salted. He very quickly demonstrated that he had no clue what he was talking about but was determined to keep on talking like he was pretending otherwise.

BTW yes NAT sucks hardcore. The reason is: there is NO advantage gained from adding NAT. The ONLY thing it does is make people (esp. any new ones) too lazy to configure their routers properly to play the game without NAT. The disadvantages on the other hand are numerous: LAG, dropping, bogoss suppression, etc.
