Problem: I downloaded the file and my Microsoft Essentials anti-virus scanner detected within it something called "HackTool:Win32/Patch.d" and considers it a medium threat.

I had exactly the same problem. I was going to download it and ignore the message but if anyone could give some feedback about this I'd really appreciate it.

there is no virus on it, is just a false positive. Just get a decent antivirus

i need help. i am following all your steps. each time i get either *found age2_x1.exe *Got game window handle *Windows classname is: #32770 *opening registry for patching *patch complete enjoy game. or i get Can Not locate CD ROM error. i notice it always does that Can Not Locate CD ROM error everytime i attempt the patch.

i have tried doing this as Run as Admin and still does nothing to fix the graphics.

Do i need to do this patch for AOK first or just only AOC?

I didn`t quite understand. First you say that you get either "*patch complete enjoy game" or "Can Not locate CD ROM" error, then you say that you always get an error when you try to patch... So, do you get that "*patch complete enjoy game" message at all, OR always an error, OR you get an error after the "patch complete" message?

Maybe you could try to reinstall the game (make backup first!), then try patching (with "Run as Admin").

p.s. You need to patch AoC only, if you`re going to play AoC and it gives you color problems.

ok did some testing. i reinstalled AOC, ran patcher as Admin on AOC version 1.0 it Would launch the game but the graphics patcher would do only this command line *found age2_x1.exe. i would let it sit for about 30minutes with no other command line from patcher being done.

i then updated AOC to version 1.0c. ran graphics patcher as Admin, i am noticing that the graphics patchercommand lines go through its cycle but AOC game does NOT launch. i am getting a quick popup saying "Can Not Locate CD-ROM, select OK and restart application"

the colors that are messed up in my AOC are only the SEA and Greens. otherwise my Browns & Tans are perfect. My Water is a pink & blue mess with my Green terrain being red dotted mess.


the only thing that is working so far is going to Task manager and "end process on exeplore.exe"

VegMod fixes this. If you want to combine it with Widescreen-Patch, use UserPatch (Ctrl + Install for 1.0c compatible mode). On Voobly set colors to 32 Bit.

Edit: This works too.
