I don't think Chael was gassed. People keep saying that, but I don't think so. I just think that he didn't have a backup plan besides takedowns and gnp. Once that failed in the 2nd he just had a total brainfart and went for a spinning backfist.

He was never going to beat Anderson anyway, but I was hoping for a longer fight. Especially after their first fight was one of the best I've seen.

Something spectacular happens in every Spider fight. This knee is no different. I honestly thought he kneed him in the face at first and thought he was going to be DQed 11

Yeah, he needed a perfect night / luck to beat Silva. Then again, he had full mount for a full minute in the first period, so finishing was a possibility (in retrospect, what might have happened if Sonnen went for broke? postured ground and pound from mount into an armbar? etc)

The knee did not seem to be illegal. The grabbing shorts was obviously illegal, but that stuff happens in the heat of a fight, and doesnt mean he's a "premeditated cheater"

Totally agree. For most of the fight, he looked pretty bad.

Looking to the future, Munoz will be a tough fight for Silva. Other than that, a superfight with either GSP or Jones would be so awesome

Munoz has to beat Weidman before anything else... that's a tough fight.
Silva's managers will never let him fight Jones, who offers the possibility of completely dominating Silva (besides the fact that they say they're "good friends" and don't want to fight each other). A fight with GSP is much more likely, especially because GSP has said that he doesnt fight for titles anymore; he fights for his legacy. That fight would be amazing.

I haven't watched a replay of it, but I'm sure Chael tried to posture a couple of times, but Anderson was controlling his legs with his instep, even though Chael was in full mount. So he was unable to posture up. I would have liked to see him try for a sub, but Anderson has a very underrated ground game and could have reversed the position, so it was probably the right decision not to.

I don't think Munoz will be a tough fight. The masses will finally see Lombard fight soon. I think he is the only threat left at MW. I've sparred with him before and he's a beast.

As much as everybody hates Bisping, I think he's the only other interested fight left in the division. I scored the Sonnen fight in Bispings favour, so I think he's the current #3 middleweight.

Lombard is very fun to watch, but he's a one trick pony and Silva will eat him alive

Munoz is an extremely tough fight for Silva -- he is both a better wrestler and puncher than Sonnen.

Lombard = scary looking muscles with good haymakers, but 0% chance of beating The Spider

Nah. He's a world class Judoka with a purple belt in BJJ. He's as strong as a heavyweight (literally, I train mostly with LHW and HW's and he ragdolled me). He has an iron chin (though so did Chael, Okami, Leben etc 11) and insane power in his hands.

If he can stay on the inside and clinch with Silva, he should be able to at least control where the fight happens. The only problem is that the clinch is arguable Anderson's best position.

Chances are Hector will just go out there and brawl though. He's not the smartest guy and doesn't rely on game plans, so I guess he'd get TKO'd or subbed in the 3rd after he's gassed. I honestly do think that he's the toughest opponent left at MW for Anderson though.

I don't think Munoz is a better wrestler than Sonnen, I don't think anybody in the UFC is. He definitely has more powerful hands than Chael, but his technique is terrible. Sonnen actually has pretty good hands. He has t-rex arms so he won't be able to set up his takedowns with punches very well, so Anderson will see them coming and stuff them all. I like Munoz but I don't think he's much of a threat.

Edit: I just realised that Munoz is fighting Weidman tomorrow lol. I think that will be the end of his current run for the title. Though he looked awful in the Maia fight, Weidman is better than Munoz in every area. I'd be very shocked if he lost this one.

Weidman is a stud. That's for sure. He could definitely give Silva a good fight. I hope they give him a shot.

MMA wrestling and collegiate wrestling is different, but Munoz (Oklahoma) was a multiple All American and NCAA champion. Sonnen had an average record at Oregon. Munoz also beat Sonnen pretty badly when they wrestled head to head.

But yeah, looking at how Munoz just got dominated by Weid., i'm not so sure he'd (Munoz) would give Silva much problems.

My top fights for Silva in the division are Weidman (just crush #3 ranked Munoz) > Rockhold (a total baller and very underrated) > Lombard (fun, has puncher's chance) > Bisping (seasoned veteran who always shows up on fight night)

Amateur wrestling is totally different to MMA wrestling, so I try not to rely on those credentials. Look at Rashad, Fitch or GSP. Three of the best wrestlers in MMA but all with dodgy college (or none at all) records.

Weidman is a beast for sure, from what his coaches say he's an incredibly fast learner as well. He definitely has what it takes to be a champion some day, but I don't want them to rush him. Give him another fight or two first.

I need to see Rockhold against some better opposition before I rank him up there. I do think Jacare is an excellent fighter, but that fight wasn't a good performance for either of them. I look forward to the day we see him in the UFC.

Edit: It sounds like Weidman is fighting Bisping next, so I guess Hector will get the title shot if he rolls through Boetsch. The MW division has gone from the most boring to most exciting division overnight 11
