You just can`t make an argument that fixing the game logic ruined one set of maps (that are based on the wrong logic in the first place)... There are so many maps and ways of playing this game.
I saw your maps, and I like the creativity of the maker and respect your feelings toward the map set, but you can`t say that player on the north and player on the south are in the same position playing on "forest nothing" maps - with regular tree graphics, southern player will be able to manage his villagers/troops in the point of his enemy, while northern player will be able to do the same, but in the direction opposite of his opponent (towards the map edge), while he won`t be able to manage them well if he wants to go toward his enemy. This has nothing to do with skill, it`s map being unfair because of the game restrictions (unable to see well behind southern forest).
Anyway, skill is a way of thinking and playing the game, it is not skill if you`re not able to see your units when you try to attack enemy on the south, while he can see and manage his units while he attacks you (to the north). Making visibility same for all the players (no matter if they have forest on the north or south) is what makes game more fair. It is not a trick, exploiting original game`s visibility "flaw" might be.
And saying that playing GA (Green Arabia) is 10 times "more easy" than maps like this is... well... no comment

Each map has its "build order" and logic, and once you learn it, you are one step closer to master the map. It`s that some people find it boring to wait 30 minutes, an hour, or longer just to get a chance to attack your opponent. On the other hand, others enjoy it, so it`s a matter of taste.
I respect your point of view, but you need to be a bit more realistic. Here game logic (visibility) is fixed to make the game more fair for everyone. It fixes trees, so yes, it makes the biggest difference on the maps that have
only wood - so the best thing you can do is teach your community about this patch, and make the map fair for everyone, being able to show their true skill. Without the patch, "forest nothing" map is not fair in the first place (as I explained in the beginning of this post), so you can`t talk about skill at all, as you don`t have the same starting conditions for all the players - some will be able to manage their units towards the enemy, some won`t.
